Why learn Reiki for use at home?

Reiki is a simple, hands-on healing practice that reconnects us with our natural ability to heal—a gift for life requiring only an open mind and your hands. Learning Reiki has been transformative for me, not only as a therapist but as a mother and caregiver.

I have been practicing Reiki for more than 15 years and had the privilege of training with The Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan, where I became a certified teacher in 2014. This deepened my understanding of Reiki as both an ancient practice and a modern tool for healing.

In my practice, I’ve used Reiki for a range of needs: minor head injuries, stress, anxiety, and grief. The impact is undeniable—clients’ eyes appear brighter, their energy lighter, as if a weight has been lifted. In times of grief, when emotions are hard to express, Reiki provides a safe and gentle way to release and heal. Often times my clients say they sleep much deeper and restful after a Reiki session. On occasion, people who have been running on a hamster wheel for many years suddenly feel overwhelming tired for a few days because their body is finally able to rest and it craves more sleep.

Reiki has also been a cornerstone in my home. My son, now 18, still asks for Reiki when he’s stressed or tired, and my husband seeks it after long workdays. For mothers, it’s invaluable, easing pain, calming accidents, and supporting emotional well-being. Elderly loved ones, too, absorb Reiki like a sponge, finding comfort in its gentle touch.

Reiki reminds us that our capacity to heal has always been there. There are many ancient healing practices out there that have been lost through the years due to our reliance on 'quick fixes'. I am passionate about teaching people to find ways of elevating their own health. Whether it is via a healthier more nourishing diet, breath work, exercise or energy work - there's many options that will help you regain your balance and increase your vitality.

If you’re curious, join my next Reiki course and reconnect with yourself. You won’t regret it—it’s a gift that lasts a lifetime.

Next course is February 2025.
